General Information of the M/V Magellan Explorer

Arrival and return

For air cruises that begin in Punta Arenas, arrival on day 1 of the itinerary must be before 2 PM. Travelers who miss the arrival deadline will be considered "no-show". Remember that scheduling tight connections is never advisable when traveling to remote locations. Always travel 1 or 2 days in advance to give yourself room for problems with baggage delivery, flight delays, etc. In the event that your flight to Punta Arenas is delayed for reasons beyond your control, we will do our best to accommodate your late arrival. However, we do not assume any responsibility for late arrivals due to external problems. For the Antartida Express trip, boarding in Ushuaia is between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Boarding will be closed at 4 PM.

Baggage allowance

The maximum weight allowed on flights to and from Antarctica is 20 kg (44 lb) per passenger, including carry-on baggage. For Classic Antarctica and Polar Circle air cruises. Excess luggage will be kept in custody in Punta Arenas and will be delivered to travelers upon their return from Antarctica. For the Antarctica Express trip, excess baggage will be disembarked in Puerto Williams and sent to Punta Arenas by air cargo at the expense of the traveler. It will be available to pick up in Punta Arenas when the traveler returns from Antarctica. The baggage weight limit is a technical requirement imposed by the flight operation. Unfortunately, it is not possible to pay for excess baggage.

Participation form

Participants must complete and sign an online entry form and return it to the shipping company at least 120 days prior to departure.

Health insurance

The shipping company requires passengers to have medical insurance, including aeronautical medical evacuation from Antarctica.

Cancellation insurance

The shipping company requires passengers to take out travel cancellation and interruption insurance.

Idiom

The official language of expedition of air-cruises is English, despite the fact that the majority of the crew are Latino, Spanish-speaking.

Possible flight delays and contingency plans
